Doha Film Institute Autumn 2025: Funding News
Doha Film Institute (DFI) has awarded funding to 57 projects in its autumn 2025 funding round, including 10 projects by Qatari and Qatar-based filmmakers.
Filmmakers with projects that have received funding include Bassel Ghandour (Theeb), Hinde Boujemaa (Noura’s Dream) and Ismaël El Iraki (Zanka Contact).
With this latest funding round, the DFI has now supported more than 1,000 projects worldwide since its launch 15 years ago. Several films supported by the Qatari film body enjoyed awards and festival success last year, including The President’s Cake, Aisha Can’t Fly Away, Cotton Queen, Once Upon A Time In Gaza, Renoir and Promised Sky.
Fatma Hassan Alremaihi, Chief Executive Officer of DFI, said: “The filmmakers selected in the 2025 Fall Grants cycle exemplify the power of independent cinema to question, connect, and reveal deeper truths. We have helped filmmakers claim space, challenge dominant narratives, and ensure that cinema remains a vital force for empathy, dialogue, and shared understanding."
