Purin Film Fund Autumn 2025: Funding News
Bangkok-based fund has awarded grants to projects from Le Bao, Alyx Ayn Arumpac, Don Joseph Raphael Eblahan and Chris Chong Chan Fui.
Bangkok-based Purin Film Fund has selected four projects for its autumn 2025 funding round, including two fiction and one documentary project for production support and one documentary project for post-production support.
The grantees include documentary Tongues Of Fire, which continues award-winning filmmaker Alyx Ayn Arumpac’s exploration of the cycle of violence and accountability in the Philippines.
Hearing is the follow-up feature of Saigon-based filmmaker Le Bao, whose previous film Taste won the Encounters Prize at the 2021 Berlin Film Festival.
Hum is the highly anticipated debut of Don Joseph Raphael Eblahan, whose latest short Vox Humana, which serves as a proof-of-concept for the feature, has won many awards internationally.
In addition, Moto by Chris Chong Chan Fui, is a whimsical look at the daily lives of motorcycle riders in the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur and a return to feature-length filmmaking for the director, who has recently been working in the visual art world.
Commenting on the selection, Purin Pictures co-director Anocha Suwichakornpong, said: “This Fall 2025 session we received the highest number of submissions on record. After deliberation, the reading committee ended up choosing only four projects to support however, fewer than the usual five to six of previous sessions.
“The quality these four projects have in common are a strong directorial vision, a producing team with a proven track record, and a dossier that is very thoroughly written. Among a large number of competing submissions, these are the factors that make a project stand out to a reading committee.”
Purin Film Fund is handing out grants of $110,000 in this funding round. It awards production grants of $30,000 for fiction films and $15,000 for documentaries; along with post-production grants of $50,000 for fiction films, and $35,000 for documentaries.
The call for entries for the Spring 2026 session opens on February 1, 2026.
