The German-Turkish Co-Production Development Fund has announced it will be funding seven projects in 2026. In a year that saw the largest number of applications in its 16-year history, the fund will disburse grants totalling €121,000.

The fund was established in 2011 through collaboration between Meetings on the Bridge, the co-production market organised by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (IKSV) as part of Istanbul Film Festival, Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg and MOIN Film Fund Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein.

Since its founding, the fund has distributed more than €1.34m to German-Turkish co-production projects. Past recipients have premiered at the Berlinale, Cannes and Tallinn Black Nights, among other major festivals.

Emin Alper’s A Tale Of Three Sisters screened in the Berlinale’s main competition; Mehmetcan Mertoğlu’s Album premiered in Cannes Critics’ Week, and Nisan Dağ’s When I’m Done Dying competed at Tallinn Black Nights.

Most recently, İlker Çatak won the Golden Bear at this year’s Berlinale with Yellow Letters, which received a development grant from the fund.

This year’s selection brings together both established and emerging filmmakers, with additional support from the IKSV Young Artist Fund.

Awardees include Chen & Gan, the new feature from French-Turkish directing duo Çağla Zencirci and Guillaume Giovanetti, whose 2018 film Sibel premiered in Locarno competition, became a European Film Awards finalist and was sold to HBO across Europe.

The Power Plant is the latest project from Turkish novelist and filmmaker Tayfun Pirselimoğlu, whose 2021 film Kerr won Best Director at the Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival and was selected as Turkey’s Oscar entry.

Also among the seven grantees is Adem And The Others, a new project from Onur Saylak, the Turkish actor-director whose debut feature More premiered at Karlovy Vary in 2017 and won multiple prizes at Turkish festivals.
