Asian Project Market 2026: Full Line-Up

Busan International Film Festival’s Asian Project Market has selected 30 projects from 20 countries for its 2026 edition, including new works from previous award winners at the festival such as Mori Tatsuya, Reza Rahadian and Prasanna Vithinage.

Tatsuya, who won Busan’s New Currents Award in 2023 with September 1923, is returning with a project entitled 13, produced by Lee Bongwoo and Nagaki Mahiro. Rahadian, who scooped four prizes in Busan’s Vision Awards last year for On Your Lap, is bringing Casparina, produced by Arya Ibrahim and Gita Fara.

Vithinage, who picked up the festival’s Jiseok Award in 2023 for Paradise, will be presenting Islands, co-produced by Anto Chittilappilly of India’s Newton Cinema and Fran Borgia of Singapore’s Akanga Film Asia.

The diverse line-up includes three projects from Japan, also including selections from Hirose Nanako and Igarashi Kohei, along with seven from Korean filmmakers including three who have had films play previously at BIFF – Lee Sangcheol (Blesser), Choi Hyunyoung (Memories Of A Dead End) and Lee Hanju (The Family Table).

Chinese-speaking territories are being represented by filmmakers including Hong Kong newcomer So Chak Long, Taiwan’s Yen Hao-hsuan and Tibetan female director Kangdrun. In addition to Vithinage, South Asian filmmakers showcasing projects at APM include Pakistan’s Eshah Shakeel; and India’s Dominic Sangma, Tribeny Rai, Stenzin Tankyong and Payal Sethi.

Southeast Asia is also strongly represented with two other Indonesian filmmakers in addition to Rahadian – Mouly Surya (This City Is A Battlefield), who is bringing her new project The Wife Who Can See Dead People (Or Jinn); and Aditya Ahmad, won Best Short Film at Venice in 2018 for A Gift, and is bringing his feature debut Goldfish to Busan. The line-up also includes projects from Cambodia’s Chheangkea, Singapore’s Alvin Lee, Thailand’s Panu Aree, Malaysia’s Tan Seng Kiat and the Philippines’ E Del Mundo.

Asian Project Market is taking place alongside Busan’s Asian Contents & Film Market (ACFM) at BEXCO, while Busan International Film Festival runs October 6-15 at Busan Cinema Centre and multiple other venues across the city.
